on a personal note

Thank you all for your sympathy for the sudden death of my husband Miles Coburn in a bicycling accident.
My family has been enveloped in a warm cloud of hugs, tears, flowers, cards, food, and memories. Just as you have trouble finding words for us, I am struggling to let you know how comforting you have been.
Miles' birthday is September 23. Our family and friends have organized a Ride for Miles on September 20 to celebrate his life. I hope to see you there. (see below for details)
I
need to tell you that Miles DAILY talked about global climate change as
the most important issue facing us today. He couldn't believe
that articles such as the recent "Scientists warn that the North Pole could be free of ice in just five years' time instead of 60"
are headlines in Europe but not in local or national papers in the
United States. The man-made degradation of our climate is
the major cause of current global economic and political problems, let
alone those of the United States. Today I watched Thomas Friedman
talk about his new book, Flat, Hot, and Crowded on
Meet the Press and all I could think about was how that book would be
the next one Miles would read if he were here. And he so believed
this topic should be the major one of the campaign.
Miles knew that individual choices lead to collective action that can change the world. So here are Ten Things To Do to
stop global warming. Act now in honor of my husband. If we
collectively do as he did, we can save the world he loved.

Project
Qué donations-a week-long math and science summer camp for Hispanic
middle school students founded and directed by Miles. Mail your
donation to The President's Office, John Carroll University, University
Heights, Ohio 44118.
Again, I greatly appreciate your thoughts and your sympathy.
